Mastopexy – Breast Lift

With Dr. Mark Kohout

What is a Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to raise, reposition and reshape ptotic (sagging) breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue. This procedure aims to increase the firmness of the breasts, which may have changed due to factors such as ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuations. During a breast lift, the surgeon makes incisions to access the underlying tissue, lifts the breast tissue to a higher position on the chest wall, and usually repositions the nipple and areola accordingly.

Who May Benefit

Individuals with breast ptosis (breasts that have dropped to a lower position on the chest wall) from genetics, weight loss or ageing may benefit.
Patients with downward-pointing nipples that they wish to alter.
Those with uneven breasts (asymmetrical breasts) may desire this surgery to increase symmetry.
