Liposculpture is one of the most commonly performed plastic surgery operations. It is the process of removing unwanted deposits of fatty tissue from virtually any area.
Laser liposculpture, otherwise known as liposuction, relies on the elasticity of the skin to retract and “take up” the space occupied by fat. It is, therefore, best suited to people with firm, elastic skin. The younger you are, the higher the chances that liposculpture will be the appropriate method of body contouring.
Liposculpture is best reserved for contouring, rather than for weight or body size reduction, but when used appropriately it produces excellent results in the abdomen, arms, legs, thighs, buttocks, knees and ankles.
It is particularly useful in flattening abdominal bulges and ‘love handles’, reducing ‘saddlebags’ in the outer thighs to create an elegant curve from waist to thigh, and contouring the upper buttocks.
The best element of liposculpture is its long-term solution. The removed fat does not regenerate or come back. Provided you do not gain weight following your procedure, the improvements in body shape are long-lasting.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, laser liposuction can be performed either in day surgery at our Sydney clinic, under twilight sedation or in a hospital under general anaesthetic.
