Why Is a Consultation Required Before a Quote?
A personalised estimate can only be prepared after the patient has been assessed and the proposed procedure has been identified.
During consultation, Dr Mark Kohout may discuss:
- the patient’s concerns
- medical history
- previous operations
- current medications
- smoking and nicotine use
- neck and facial anatomy
- possible treatment options
- limitations of surgery
- material risks and complications
- postoperative care
- the likely hospital setting
- possible Medicare eligibility
- whether further medical information is needed
The assessment helps establish the type and extent of surgery that may be appropriate. It also assists with estimating operating time, anaesthetic requirements and hospital costs.
Where a medically indicated service may be relevant, supporting records or a referral may be required before eligibility can be considered. Medicare or insurer involvement cannot be confirmed from appearance alone.
